Vanessa Foran provides more than 20 years’ experience as an NGO leader working with patient groups such as the Canadian Diabetes Association Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario and Parkinson Canada. She also led a Canadian health coalition - Neurological Health Charities Canada, participated in numerous advocacy initiatives working with the Canadian Coalition for Genetic Fairness, the Canadian Caregiver Coalition, Best-Medicines Coalition and Chaired
the Health Charities Coalition of Canada’s Public Policy and Advocacy Committee. Her eldest daughter has lived with asthma from a very young age, providing Vanessa with direct experience and a passion to improve the lives of Canadians affected by this chronic disease.

Zhen Liu
Manager, Operations and Administration
Zhen has over 10 years of experience working in the non-profit sector. She has a strong belief in the positive impact that charities make on children, youth, families and community members across Canada. She joined Asthma Canada as she wanted to empower individuals affected by asthma, provide them with the opportunity to engage in meaningful programs and access resources that would improve their overall health and well-being.
Michael Nixon
Director, Asthma and Allergy Friendly Certification Program
Mike Nixon has spent his professional career as a senior executive for a variety of Canada’s leading non-profit organizations ranging from arts and culture and the environment to health care. He was Senior Vice President, Corporate Relations for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce for over 15 years until recently when he went into business for himself, continuing to offer over 30 years of experience to growing charitable organizations.
Mike has served on several charitable Boards of Directors and is a recipient of the Queen’s Jubliee Medal. He is married to Cindy, whom he met working a television production, and they have two daughters who, just out of university, are in production and writing. Mike and Cindy proudly foster little new-born babies, supporting their local Children’s Aid Society.

Mehnaz has a background in non-profit communications, with eclectic experience in arts based organizations as well as social enterprises. As someone who has lived with asthma since she was a child, she brings a passion to drive forward Asthma Canada's vision to empower all Canadians with asthma to live an active and symptom-free life.
Brandon Teteruck
Communications Officer
Combining his background in healthcare and communications, Brandon brings his experience and knowledge to the table at Asthma Canada. A strong supporter of research, advocacy, and education, he wants to improve the quality of life of Canadians with asthma and empower them so that their voices are heard.
